In 2008, The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove partnered with the Friends of the Fox River Grove Memorial Library in sponsoring their "Young Authors" project. This project encourages students in grades 1 through 8 to participate by submitting original fiction, non-fiction, poetry, plays, or scripts that are judged for content and entertainment. This is meant to be a positive experience for all participants and each is recognized at an awards ceremony that is held at the library. It is hoped that this activity will encourage the students to continue using their imagination and writing skills.

The Rotary Club of Cary-Grove got involved by first sponsoring this event financially. But it evolved with members participating in the judging of the entries as well as sharing in the excitement of the awards ceremony. They again sponsored the event in 2009.

Everyone benefits from this project. Students are encouraged to continue their literacy skills in a positive way. The library benefits by having a well attended program that both students and parents are excited about. The library indicated that this program would have likely been scaled back if not for Rotary's support. The club benefits from the recognition generated by sponsorship, which included being highlighted in the promotional materials and multiple mentions of recognition on the night of the event.

At an approximate cost of $550, this is an event the club expects to continue to support in the future.
