PDG Edger W. Pigg, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was born Feb.19, 1926 in Dade City, FL, raised in Nashville, TN and has lived in Lake Bluff since 1966. Following high school, Ed enlisted in the navy, serving on the USS Satago during WWII and was a member of the Lake Bluff American Legion Post #510. He was a 1951 graduate of Vanderbilt University in Nashville and a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Ed began his auto sales career with Studebaker, later becoming the owner of a Volkswagen dealership in Waukegan. He retired in 1985 and soon after joined his longtime friend in business at J.C. Forney and Co. Real Estate in Libertyville. He was a former member of the Lake Bluff Police Commission and past president of the Lake County Chamber of Commerce. He was involved in the Lake County Chaplaincy Program, the Ralph Smith Foundation and many aspects of the Methodist Church. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lake Bluff and served on the Board of the United Methodist Foundation.

Ed was a very active Rotarian, Past President of the Waukegan Rotary Club, District 6440 Govenor from 1985-86 and honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Henrietta Pigg; 3 children Katherine (Fred) Boebel III of West Alexandria, Ohio, Edgar (Barbara) Pigg, Jr. of Lake Bluff and David (Marguertie) Pigg of Riverwoods; 6 grandchildren, Frederick IV, Katherine, Carolyn, Robert, David Jr. and Emma; sisters, Mary Hartnett and Addie Martin and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C.E. and Noi Pigg and by his brothers, Eugene and Robert.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the BURNETT-DANE FUNERAL HOME, 12O W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at Grace United Methodist Church, 244 E. Center Ave. Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
