Greetings,
Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of District Governor for Rotary District 6440.
Leading a Rotary District as active and vibrant as ours is an incredibly rewarding experience. To understand the requirements and responsibilities that come with the role, we encourage you to review the the Application Resources found on the left column of this page. There are Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced classes in Rotary’s Learning Center at rotary.org that you can also review. You will find that any member of our Council of Governors (current governor line and all Past District Governors) will be pleased and honored to answer questions you might have.
The first step in the nomination process is for you to complete the District Governor Nomination Form, coming soon. This form goes first to your club for approval by its Board of Directors as evidenced by the signatures of the club president and secretary. Your club president must then forward your completed, signed, and approved application to me as a scanned PDF file (only) by email to gov.maryb@rotary6440.org APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY Friday, August 30, at 5:00pm

Eligibility
Qualifications of a Governor-nominee: the person selected as a governor-nominee shall at the time of selection:
(a) be a member in good standing of a functioning club in the district;
(b) have served as club president for a full term or as charter president for at least six months;
(c) demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor;
(d) demonstrate knowledge of the qualifications, duties, and responsibilities of governor as prescribed in the
bylaws; and
(e) submit to RI a statement that the Rotarian understands those qualifications, duties, and responsibilities,
is qualified for the office of governor, and is willing and able to assume and faithfully perform those duties
and responsibilities.
(a) be a member in good standing of a functioning club in the district;

(f) at the time of taking office, a governor, when taking office, must have attended the international assembly for its full duration,
have been a Rotarian for at least seven years, and continue to possess the qualifications of a governor-nominee listed above.
Time Commitment
Serve as Governor Nominee Designate from date of selection to June 30, 2025. Deliver on duties as Governor Nominee for July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026; Governor Elect for July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, including attend the Rotary International Conventions; Governor July 1, 2027 to June 30, 2028; Immediate Past District Governor July 1, 2028 to June 30, 2029.

Selection Process.
The Nominating Committee is convened and chaired by me as Immediate Past District Governor and consists of past club presidents, current or past club officers, Past District Governors, and members-at-large, all with alternates. The Nominating Committee was selected by the Primary Committee at the District Annual Meeting that was held on May 8, 2024.
The Nominating Committee will interview applicants on Monday, September 9. This is an in-person interview. Attendance is mandatory and there are no exceptions. You will be notified of the exact time and instructions for your interview once all applications have been received.
