The Antioch Rotary Scholarship, Inc. Foundation recently awarded 19 college scholarships to graduating seniors from Antioch and Lakes High Schools. In addition ten scholarships were renewed to previous awardees. Four of the scholarships are in memory of Rotarians: Bill Brook, Homer and Frances LaPlant, Tim Osmond and Vern Thelen. Another is in memory of a young woman who graduated from ACHS, Juliane Kriens. A total of $27,000.00 was awarded. Selection criteria includes academic achievement, financial need, extra-curricular activities, and community service.
 
The Foundation has been awarding scholarships for over twenty years. In that time approximately 450 students have benefited from these scholarships valuing close to $500,000.00.
These funds have been made available through the community’s outstanding support of The Rotary Club of Antioch’s annual Pork Chop Dinner and Auction which is their primary fund-raising project.
 
This year’s recipients  are: Heather Beckman, Andrew Burkhardt (Vern Thelen Memorial Scholarship), Thomas Furlong, Stephanie Hahn-Silva (Homer & Frances LaPlant Memorial Scholarship),Raymond Luc, Carley McCameron (Juliane Kriens Memorial Scholarship), Jason Mrkonich, Courtney Rieb, Shane Simonini, Natalie Summerfelt, Shane Thomas, and Brandon White, Thomas Cyberski, Katherine Julkowski, Jocelyn Villalobos McNeany, Josh McQuade, Noora Reffat (Bill Brook Memorial Scholarship), Savannah Tanneberger (Tim Osmond Memorial Scholarship), and Erica Terry. Reapplication recipients are:  Alexander Furlong, Neil Hughes, Bethany Breum, Jessica Stonis, Emily Buehler, Hannah Bohn, Destiny Poe, Michelle Kittelson, Kelsey Kohler and Taylor Spoo.
